I find it quite odd that despite being something of a Ninty fanboy in younger years I've made it this far without ever playing a Pokemon game.  Without, in fact, never even wanting to.

Despite being a huge fan of classic gaming, I also have to confess that I fucking HATE Defender.  Hate it with a passion.

Um. Probably anything on the N64, Playstation, GameCube, XBox, 360, PS2...

I suppose any of the Final Fantasy games though. When I was a SNES owner, they were all the rage. Super Play raved about them regularly, and despite loving Zelda, and thoroughly enjoying The Secret Of Mana, I never gave the Final Fantasy games a go.

And I never will.

I nearly bought a 360 the other day in a fit of boredom, y'know.

Buy a 360.

I should have played Chrono Trigger (properly) but I never owned a SNES until recently and the carts are quite rare now I believe.  Expensive, too.

That's why I said "properly".  I have played a copy from [an independant games retailer -Ed]  but it's not the same.  It's not as gripping and there's more likely to be glitches, problems, and fiddling about getting the emulation right than just enjoying the game.

I don't think I got very far, because playing these things with a keyboard and an emulator is just...wrong.

Possibly I could install a SNES emulator to the Xbox, I suppose...

Or plug a 360 controller into a PC.

That'd involve buying a 360 controller, though - you can't just plug in a Play and Charge Kit, and my wireless doobrie broke long ago.

Uh...pretty much any fighting game, ever. I like a bout of simulated fisticuffing but never got past the tongue-stuck-out sausage-finger-fumble-FAIL stage.

Most shmups. The only one I ever got on with was 'Disposeable Hero' all those years ago on the Amiga. It helped that you got a huge and way cool poster with it. Late entry: Mars Matrix! You recall that. GDS? Sheeesh. I was similarly terrible at moving around the screen shooting things (indeed watching me probably yielded the same visual stimuli: look at him lean over with his face a breakfast of concerntration. Oh, he's dead and swearing. Marvel as he flounces off).

Any Final Fantasy game. GTA 1,2,3, SA and IV. Gran (ugh) Turismo. Resident Evil Anything But The Fourth (which I am playing again today on the GC. Hurrah!). Half-Life and played but had a creeping loathing for H-L2.

Continue? 9...8...7...6...54321. GAME OVER I'll slap in another ten pence later.

Hang on.  Isn't this much the same as my 'You disappoint me' thread?  Eh anyway.

Bioshock.  Mass Effect.  Two games that by all rights should have been solid favourites of mine.  Both of them were resounding... disappointments.

I have never really liked any one-on-one beat-em-ups other than Streetfighter II, and then only because there was a cabinet of that in the arts & crafts shop of my home village, which was frankly astonishing back then.  Like wandering into a country post-office today and fighting er, some modern really cool and super-hyped arcade cabinet, next to the birthday cards.

I have played hardly any games on the original Playstation or Saturn or N64 and really should, as there are lots on each of these formats that I am told I would love.  I keep meaning to try out 'Snatcher' on the Saturn for example, but never do.

I like the idea, I lost interest the second someone told me it was vital to kill your own animals to progress.

Fuck that.

I'm thinking more of stuff that you've managed to avoid playing, ever, or stuff that videogame lore says you should love.  But, um, it's similar  Embarrassed

Oh and whoever mentioned Mars Matrix, I fucking hate that too.  With a passion.  Contrived piece of shit.

I have both UFO: Enemy Unknown and X-Com: Terror From The Deep from [A reputable online retailer - Ed.]. Works through DOSbox and is awesome.
It does make me sad whenever a soldier dies, though, which is why I save my game after every turn. Cheating, yes - but it's my game and I'll play it the way I want to.

@Xeethra: Ha-DO-ken!
@CUS: SHOR-ryu-ken!

@Both: Your-chips-and-BUR-gers! (At least that's what the hurricane kick always sounded like to me).

Anyway.

I've mentioned Bioshock before. It absolutely appalled me and I honestly don't know why. Maybe it's because I was expecting 'Deus Ex Under the Sea' and so it felt horribly narrow, forced and joyless. Just my opinion, like.

A recent one was Dante's Inferno. Only played the demo, mind. I am quite partial to that kind of mindless violence and wholesome fun. But, somehow, it felt like a vastly inferior game... to... to... Xmen Origins: Wolverine! I couldn't get past that for some reason.

Xeethra, you learn something new everyday and I had no idea you despise so many games. In fact, I am shocked that you don't like shoot-em-ups. I remember Mars Matrix. Do you remember the time? Do you remember the fun we had? Do you remember randomly surviving a tidal wave of bullets and not knowing how or why? I remember us laughing. Together. Do you? Do you remember playing Zed Blade afterwards to calm down? The piano-house soundtrack on the second level? I thought you liked it Xee, I thought you liked it all.
