I admit it.  I bummed MW2 multiplayer hard.  Very hard.  I loved it, and sank more hours in to that multiplayer than I've probably sin any game before it.   I didn't mind the same maps over and  over again, nor that there were ways to die before you'd even finished spawning.  I was in love.

Now, it's all come crashing down.  I don't know what is, perhaps it's me, not you, MW2.  But it's mostly you.  I look across at Halo 3 and see the making of your own game modes, easily designing your own maps and such with Forge, and wonder what it would be like if STAG were making maps and modes for each other to play on.  I see the skill level matcher meaning we don't get joined by super elite guys who think winning is more fun than playing.  I see the relative balance that mean even if you've just spawned, you still have as much chance at taking down the next guy than anyone else does.  I see a lobby system that doesn't break every two minutes and drop people.

I see all this, and wonder what I'm doing playing MW2 still.

Come, join with us and play Halo 3.  Give it a chance.  It loves you more than MW2 does.

I think this is the first time I've loved a game so much and then turned to hating it in such a fashion, despite nothing really having been changed.

I could list a lot of games that I've fallen out of love with. Instead I'll make with the happy and say that I actually have Halo 3 and can join in as a frag-bunny when we organise the golden weekend. I might be able to churn up a map or a game mode in the interim. Don't be expecting anything though.

MW2 is an unbalanced, buggy mess. I gave up on it a while ago, and will probably trade it in and get Quantum Of Solace and Halo 3(I only have ODST, and I love Halo 3's campaign co-op).

It's a known fact. When someone is in love, they don't care about the bad personality traits. It's all part of it. But when someone points them out to you they all become too much. Getting kicked out of lobbies, getting spawn killed, care package after care package after care package.

There is so much good with MW2, unfortunately it comes with a lot of heavy baggage.

I'd be up for a private match anytime. Me, Weirdi and Sheepeh had some good games.

  • No Perks
  • No Killstreak Rewards
  • No/Slow Health Regeneration

This we found makes it a lot more enjoyable. Giving somebody who is already top of the leaderboard the ability to bring in a pave-low and distance himself from the rest of players sounds like a great idea if you're that guy, Not for the rest of the players.

Legendary ODST

I'd be up for a private match of it, but on the whole I'm quite fed up of MW2.  We had one game last night that was just a regular affair, with no chronic lag or killstreak-spamming.  We lost, but that was cool - it was only by a few, and the other team out-numbered us until the last minute.  I'm cool with losing in a reasonable fight.  But when I'm blatantly just losing because of lag and then I respawn only to be instantly killed by a chopper - repeatedly - I just think "What's the point?"  It's tedious.  The good think about COD4, which I am considering going back to, is that whilst that still had its killstreaks, they seemed a hell of a lot more balanced.

I played a game of Halo 3 multiplayer the other night and greatly enjoyed it, and would definitely be up for more of that, some ODST Legendary co-op, some The Darkness, perhaps some COD4 (if I buy it again, which I might), and am always up for Quantum of Solace.  Or some Gears of War 2 Horde mode.  But MW2?  Sorry, I'm just not enjoying it any more.

Oh, and Xeethra, indeed, you would be more than welcome to play some Halo 3 multiplayer with us.  Let us know what weekend works for you, and we can fling you a 48 hour pass to civvy street.  Running women, sexy water, you name it.

It all depends on the time. I'm working Friday & Saturday Nights. I'm available in the day time though. Oh yeah, and Sunday. I'm available all day Sunday.

I might be busy with family things around Fri/Sat too. Oddly Sunday mornings have been best for me in the past.

I didn't mean the exclamation mark a few posts back but I hate modding posts and it's been quoted for posterity...

The weekend is fine for me.

@Davydd, if you get Quantum of Solace, I will hump your leg clean off.

And I will hump the stump. Wink  But seriously, the more people who buy QoS, the better. It really is a lovely little game.

Free for the whole weekend and up for playing just about anything. Except MW2, which I'm also completely sick to the back teeth of. And I've not touched it for two months! But if anyone fancies a game of Halo 3, The Darkness, QoS or whatever, then lob me an invite.

For me, it was Metroid Prime.  I can appreciate everything about the game.  The atmosphere, the ambience, the love and attention obviously paid to the design... it's brilliant.  Except I've gotten bored halfway through twice now, and I give up.  Why, I have no idea.

Me too!  I've got at least half-way through twice, enjoying it mostly, getting on well with the controls, loving the atmosphere, especially the music.  And then I just can't be bothered any more and stop playing it.  I'd love to try its two sequels but I suspect I'd be similarly prone to just forgetting about it half way through.  See also: Legend of Zelda - The Wind Waker.

The first Metroid Prime does lull a bit near the middle: I spent a lot of time wandering around not sure of where I was going or why I was looking to go there.

Don't bother with MP: Dark Echoes as it's filled with horrid design (energy-sapping areas you MUST navigate through, pointless fetchy-bits, irritating bosses, limited ammo for most of your weapons) and generally a lot more rubbish than the first and third. MP: Corruption is a lot tighter and more linear: it didn't quite live up to what I had hoped for but it was fun. It's a half-breed between an FPS and a FPAdventure.

I really liked The Wind Waker; it could be wonderfully mellow just sailing about looking for things. I tried to play it through again but gave up most of the way in (probably because the joy of exploration had been diminished).

Sheepeh has broken my heart :'( I loves the MW2!

I'm not sure if I have fallen out of love with any game, not joking here. I cannot think of one game that I have that I think, 'I hate this now,' or 'I can't play this as it doesn't give me the same feeling it did before.'

Hrmmm, I must look through my games once more and see if there are any...Oh!! Little big planet, I think that's died a death with me now.

I think there's at least one game mode you'll like in there somewhere, there's SO MANY of them it's silly.  And while you're sitting about wanting a creative outlet, you could create maps & modes for us to play!
