It's a drama that happens to be witty.

Is it any wonder that the production team was confused?

I am entertained.  I was trying to convince Mr. Jackson that he needs to learn how to do it, but he just burped and rolled over.

Having been reminded elsewhere by thr0b of the goodness of The Fast Show, I present my favourite sketch from that, and its inexplicable American Werewolf In London qualities.

Having been reminded elsewhere by thr0b of the goodness of The Fast Show, I present my favourite sketch from that, and its inexplicable American Werewolf In London qualities.

The Fast Show (in its first two series in particular) really was one of the best sketch shows of all time. The first series was often offbeat and weird, characters that came from nowhere and were never used again. The whole team gelled, and it was a great mixture of comedians and actors.

Even the presence of Arabella Fucking Weir didn't ruin it. Though when Caroline Aherne went, the rot set in.

Also had at least two good spin-offs; namely the sublime Ted & Ralph, which won a ton of awards and hasn't been repeated in years, and Swiss Toni. Which was in itself a spin-off of a character nicked from The Smell Of Reeves & Mortimer, but was a really good fleshing-out of a one-joke sketch into a full length series. Dumped when BBC Three became all chavvy, obv, in favour of series 86 of Two Pints Of Shit And A Packet Of Shit.

Blimey, and I almost forgot Grass as well. Grass was also great, and thus obviously not picked up for a second series, despite decent ratings and all key production staff being entirely up for a second series. Which was not offered.

I dunno how ratings work there, but I do know that the system is asstastic here.

Although, The Mentalist is rated in today's top ten. Hrm.

The Mentalist was good though.

I thought it was, anyway.

Furthering my ongoing evidence that Peter Serafinowicz and his comedy chums are entirely tremendous is this sadly little-seen and rarely repeated spot-on parody of Blankety Blank done for Comic Relief a few years back. Arguably the last truly funny thing done for Comic Relief, with a cast that is now internationally famous.

Sadly ruined slightly by being in the wrong aspect ratio and low resolution, it's still great fun with loads of neat Popper/Serafinowicz touches. Keep an eye out for the chequebook and pen.

Irritatingly, they've disabled embedding, so you have to click the link.

I've seen other subtitle-editions of this clip of Downfall before, but this one has easily made me laugh the most.

What if Ghostbusters, the movie, was shot in 1954 instead of 1984? Who should be part of the cast? Would they have the same equipment? Who would they battle? Considering Dan Aykroyd's concept owes a lot to Bob Hope, Abbott and Costello, and Lewis and Martin comedies of the 40s and 50s, it is not that big of a stretch to speculate.

I hope you enjoy this re-imagined concept for Ghostbusters.

Heh I like the ghostbusters, though the poor guy thinking he's going to be killed by snipers seemed a bit mean.
