Here's one for GazChap - the complete X-Com series for just £2, for today only.

A *classic* series of strategy games.  For just £2, you'd have to really hate yourself to not get this - if you don't already.

Freedom Force pack reduced to £2 'until Monday'.  That'll be Monday by some US time, so when it stops today for UK folks, I'm not sure.  Two pretty decent games for a good price, especially if you're a comic superhero fan.

'Splosion Man is now just 400 points on Xbox Live Arcade, for a limited time only.  If you don't have it, rectify that situation soldier!  It's a fun, fast, funny platform romp, with pleasingly simple controls and lots of levels to platform/puzzle your way through.  It even has online co-operative play.

If you liked The Maw, which also was developed by Twisted Pixel, then you should definitely try this out, and support a really promising new studio by playing their awesomely fun game!

Anyone up for some fighting sparkliness on this? It's one of my favourite games on MAME, and my Hori hates to be neglected.

Hmm, I dunno.  I am fairly terrible at these sorts of games, but I know it by reputation.  Is it good?  Would I have any chance of "picking it up"?

Alternatively, if anyone wants to splash out 400 points on the fairly humdrum Turtles Reshelled, I already have it and could play that with you Cheesy

It's got a lot of techy depth, but as Tam proved to me  you can win just by shouting and hitting the controller. Here is the rather vast list of playable characters. Magneto, Omega Red and Venom vs. Ken, Strider Hiryuu and Mega Man? Yes yes yes.

I, surprising in my cheapness, played the trial last year: you run around a side-on-viewed world punching ninjas and fat blokes. I didn't like it too much.

Makro aren't good for much but there are good deals on ink cartridges. They promise to have the lowest prices available anywhere! If anyone is interested I can check if the cartridges you use are stocked by them Smiley

My Adam & Joe DVD was finally shipped today, supposedly, so hoorah.  I'm glad they did get more stock in and honour that bargainous £2.99 price.

Steam have Mount & Blade reduced from £24.99 to £3.99 - an 85% saving - until Monday.  Although it's a good year or more old now, it's a game that I recall having an enthusiastic community and does or at least did receive quite regular updates and new stuff.  Simply put, it's your chance to ride around a medieval landscape, riding horses, and fighting people with swords (as the title suggests).  But, it has a quite sophisticated swordplay system, and I recall being quite impressed with it when I played a demo a good 3 or so years ago.  There's apparently   I would cautiously suggest that at this bargain price, it's well worth getting.  Single-player only.

This week we're celebrating the release of the Elite Units of the East, new Downloadable Content for Empire: Total War™, with a huge sale on Total War™ games, packs and DLC from SEGA and The Creative Assembly.

All Empire, Rome, and Medieval II: Total War™ games and packs, including the Total War™ Mega Pack are 66% off, while all Empire: Total War DLC and the new Empire: Total War™ - Downloadable Content Pack are 10% off.

Sorry folks, I saw this on Monday and had mistakenly thought it was at the end of their regular weekend-only deals.  It's actually been week-long.  So, it either expires some time later on tonight (given the US time difference, and it being 'this week') or some time over the weekend. edit: Oh-ho-ho! just noticed on the Empire Total War page, that they've extended the deal until Monday.  That may just be for Empire though, and not the other Total War titles or the pack, as their pages don't have the same note.

Either way, it's a superb set of deals.  You can get the mega pack of Empire, Rome and Medieval II for £13.59 instead of £39.99 or buy 'em separately at knock-down prices.  They're all rather splendid strategy games that blend real-time and turn-based tactics in way that's quite unique and special.  Well worth a look if you enjoy either the globe-conquering megalomania of Civilization or you enjoy the micro-management battles of something like Command & Conquer.

Search for 'Total War' in Steam to see a list of available deals, or see the complete list here.

I ordered these, but seeing as Empire:TW needs to download 14gb, it's not going to be any time soon before I'll get to play it.

Erm....food.

Sainsburys are selling 350g packs of frozen Quorn mince or Quorn 'chicken' pieces* for a pound a bag (down from £1.77). 75g is a hearty portion for one and it's tasty yet versatile. They also have some quasi-insane deals on mince (cheapy beef mince {£2.89-ish for 500g} at 2 for £5.50 or nice New Zealand lamb mince {£3.09 for 500g} 2 for a fiver). As such I made lamb burgers and chips for dinner.

*Both made of mycoprotien, I think, which is mushroomy, and little else.

Actually, the Katona Woman has been sacked, and the Nolan woman has quit. They're being replaced by "real people", who will win a year's worth of Iceland food and be chosen by an "all star panel" including the Nolan woman.

Also the Quorn sausages are a quid a bag as well, which is great. They're nicer than the Linda McCartney ones and FAR less fatty.
