Such recommendations put me in mind of the Stewart Lee routine/rant about books. Toilet reading, eh?  Smiley
I, erm, am currently reading this.

Hm, I'm quite tempted to read the Hollywood Hulk Hogan book, but I'm also fearful of it being so full of bullshit that I'll give up.

That's the attitude to take to it*. I had a fling with wrestling about a decade ago and don't really know much about it but I get the feeling that there was a lot of Hulk says this...being at a bit slant to what actually happened. I get the impression from the book it was largely him saying off-the-cuff stuff to Vince Vaughn McManamon McMahon who then invented everything ever. There are some nice pictures too.

*That it might be bullshit. But I imagine that if you know more about the squared circle than I it could offend you** greatly.

**Now I must pay!

Yes, that's exactly what happened in the WWF/WWE.  Hulk Hogan and Vince McMahon created absolutely everything between them, and indeed, wrestling has never been better than the two of them working together.  Gnggh.  Whimper.  Sigh.

I'm currently re-reading Sojourn book3 in the original Dark Elf trilogy, 3 different Dean Koontz novels (Odd Thomas, Eyes of Darkness, and Night Chills), and Stephen King's Dark Tower series. Oh I also am reading Theory & Practice of Therapeutic Massage (for my massage therapy classes)

The books I finished in the last week were: Ray Bradbury - Farewell Summer (reread), Stephanie Meyer - Breaking Dawn, Michael Pollan - Food Rules: An Eater's Manual, Gregory Bergman - WTF? How to Survive 101 of the Worst F***ing Situations, Cherie M Sohnen-Moe - The Ethics of Touch (for my massage therapy classes)

And because this is a discussion about books and because I know if I don't bring it up halcigone will do it for me... I am infamous amongst my friends for my sex book collection. I am currently reading/rereading about four of those as well. For obvious reasons I am not putting titles out there.

@legos2stilettos - people I work with would stare opened mouthed at you for reading that many books. I read one and I get strange looks. I think the two are related anyway!

For wrestling books, I recommend Mick Foley. All of his are awesome and keep you enthralled all the way through. The fact that he actually wrote them hiself, as apposed to have someone ghost write it just makes it more special.

Recently read the first 3 books in the Sookie Stackhouse series. They're a bit daft and quite different to the TV show but they make for some decent light hearted reading and certainly a nice change from the books I usually read.

I just finished The Darkening, by Stephen M Irwin.  A proper odd mix of horror and fairy tale.  Great stuff actually.

I've just started World War Z by Max Brooks again. I've also got The Zen Of Zombie on the go, and I've just finished Mr Nice, and Terry Pratchett's latest Nation.

And yes, I too get looked at strangely for reading multiple books, but I can't help being intellectual.

I cadged 'Brother Odd' (From The Koontz) of a housemate a while back; it's bizarre and good. I then had a bit of a Koontz-binge ('Odd Hours' and 'The Gardener') but found the Odd sequel less interesting/quirky and the other just a bit too demanding of my suspension of disbelief.

If anyone has the lexicographical stamina I recommend reading 'The Phantom of The Opera': the first half is pretty dull but it races into a dark psychological horror in the second.

My absolute favorites from Dean Koontz were his first two in the three part Frankenstein trilogy. They went in a very interesting direction with Mary Shelley's creations. The third just felt like it was written so people would stop hounding him about when he was going to wrap it up.

You can probably read "worse" in Marie Claire. Or Shin's Snape fics... Nexus closed, I think Black Lace might have also.

Violet Blue has a book or two I would like to read.

Terry Pratchett's latest Nation.
I got that and read it at Xmas.  Good stuff,  not quite as much as I had been hyped up to expect, but still really strong.  An interesting change from his usual Discworld stuff, and way better than his early non-Discworld stuff like Strata.

These are a little worse than Marie Claire... but they are definitely on the softer side. I've been in a goofball mood as of late so the latest books reflect that. I finished The Sex Games Bible yesterday, it was highly amusing because the pics are softcore porn... to the point where all the men are ken dolls. I find it odd that that's really necessary in a book about sex. How does seeing everyone's naked bits, not just the womens, make it any less appealing?

There are archaic and nonsensical laws and attitudes around male and female nudity, or visible external genital arousal.

Most of the books I read are considered either too dull, too depressing or too horrifying for most people that I know to be interested in reading them. But, I too tend to be reading several books at any given time and average 10-12 books per week. Ah, insomnia - it's glorious. Not so much for the sex books, but then, I don't need to read them seeing as I get the condensed version.

Just finished Charlie Brooker's Screen Wipe.  Now on to Dawn of the Dumb.

The only reason I've managed Screen Wipe so (relatively) quickly is because it's great for reading an entry or two while dropping the kids off at the pool.  Snow Crash is proving a long read, even though I like it I keep putting it down and not going back to it.

I'll finish it, one day.
